About Us

Blackstone Publishing: an independent publishing house where authors, readers, narrators, and listeners feel at home.

Our Story
Founded in 1987 by Craig and Michelle Black, Blackstone Publishing started in a small garage where a handful of family members and employees worked to build the audiobook business one cassette tape at a time. A truly independent, family-owned publisher with offices on both coasts, Blackstone is committed to bringing entertaining stories to as many people as possible and to forging long-term connections with the bookselling community.

Print Publishing
In 2015, building on its legacy as a leading publisher of audiobooks, Blackstone expanded into the world of e-books and print books and now publishes talented writers such as Adrian McKinty, Catherine Ryan Howard, Jeneva Rose, Gabriel García Márquez, Ira Levin, Nicholas Sansbury Smith, Michael Crichton, James Clavell, Don Winslow, R. L. Stine, and many more.

Blackstone titles are printed in the USA at company headquarters in Ashland, Oregon, most of its paper coming from mills that source from responsibly managed forests, use minimal chemicals, and are powered by renewable energy sources.

Blackstone has firmly positioned itself as one of America’s fastest-growing and respected publishing houses, with multiple New York Times bestsellers, Grammy Award–winning audio productions, and books placed on the New York Times Best Books of the Year list.

An Independent Publisher Supporting Independent Bookstores
Just as every book Blackstone publishes gets the care and attention it deserves, every independent bookstore gets competitive terms and individual partnership. Partner bookstores receive access to signed editions, author events, window posters, and special programs, including co-op credits for in-store promotions and displays. Priding ourselves on communication and responsiveness, Blackstone is small enough, nimble enough, and flexible enough to work with stores on what works best for them and their clientele. Stop by and talk with a Blackstone representative at any of the American Bookseller Association regional trade shows or Winter Institute, or call (800) 378-1304 or email IndieOrders@BlackstonePublishing.com or for more information.
